In-person Worship Gatherings are paused (except as listed above)

We are worshiping on Zoom

See below for more details.

PAUSING IN-PERSON WORSHIP and GATHERINGS:
Sashabaw Presbyterian Church will be pausing all in-person gatherings not out of fear, but out of a strong commitment to the well being of our community.
As sisters and brothers in Christ we belong to one another. We also are stewards of creation and so we are doing what we can to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We do this to help “flatten the curve”, to protect the vulnerable among us and our community and to help the whole of the medical system keep from being overwhelmed with more than it can handle. During this time we will gather ONLY on line. This includes the decision not to gather worship leaders in one place.

How will this work?
We will stay connected.
  • Zoom worship.  We will maintain our regular worship times of the 1st,3rd and 5th Sundays at 11:00 am and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays at 6:00 pm. Services will not be recorded. Each week we will send out the link to zoom worship through email.  If you would like to receive the link please email us at sashabawpresbyterianchurch@gmail.com or contact us on facebook.
  • We will be posting on facebook with meditations and updates, as well as our service to the greater community.
  • Pub Theology - meets every-other Wednesday at 7:00 pm on zoom.  Each week we discuss a current topic from a theological perspective. The link is shared by email and if you would like to join us, please email sashabawpresbyterianchurch@gmail.com.
  • Wednesday Prayer.  We meet on zoom at 7:00 pm on alternating Wednesdays.  This is a short sharing time and prayer for specific concerns and joys in the life of our congregation, the community, the state, the nation and the world.  Please eamil us with any prayer requests or to receive the zoom link.
  • We will have a time for gathering prior to all worship services for coffee and conversation. These in the moment gatherings will include a time to share the happenings and prayer requests in each others lives.
  • We are staying in contact with all of our members and attendees through email,, texting or phone. If you are in need of pastoral care please call Pastor Laura at 248-310-0792.
  • Please communicate any needs you may have to any member of Session or to Pastor Laura (for example: groceries, help with online worship, prayer, etc)
  • We Are the Church – We are called to BE THE CHURCH. We are all in this together. We look forward to hearing from those of you who can help support one another and community by calling or texting 248-310-0792

SABBATH KEEPING
We are a church that practices Sabbath Keeping. We encourage you to continue with this practice even though isolation may seen to be an over abundance of rest. To maintain Sabbath we recommend setting specific time aside each week (2-3 hours) to turn off the news, netlfix, video games, and put your phone down. Do something that brings you joy.  Look for God. Spend some time pausing and reflecting, un-plug, read scripture, perhaps journal or going for a “prayer walk”., experiment with “art prayer” or spend time watching a fire. Reconnect with God and live in hope.

WE ARE THE CHURCH - BE THE CHURCH                                                                                                                                  We are still reaching out into our community and to one another. Here are some ways you can BE THE CHURCH where you are:
A. Our church is part of a Coalition with other churches who are reaching out to those in need emotionally, spiritually and in other ways during this pandemic. YOU can be a part of this effort by volunteering to do any of the following:
  1. Deliver physical needs (food, medicine, etc) to people who may need that service?
  2. Are you  willing to pray, confidentially, for families/individuals?

B. Monthly Community Service Projects - Each month our mission committee chanllenges us to BE THE CHURCH by highlighting a specific mission or community service project.  Check out our facebook page for the most recent challenge.

C. OUR church is collecting medical supplies for the hospitals  - This outreach has concluded for the time being.

D. Our Church is making and collecting Face masks – This outreach has concluded for the time being.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR FELLOWSHIP                                                                                                                                    With the announcement to continue the “Stay Home- Stay Safe” order many are looking for ways to connect. We are providing a number of ways over the next few weeks.
  • Coffee and Conversation – Begins 30 minutes BEFORE worship each week. Bring your favorite mug of java or tea and join us.
  • Concerns and Prayers – 10 minutes before worship we will be taking prayer requests. OR you can text or email them to Pastor Laura.
  • Prayer Circle meets every other week on zoom to share concerns and joys and join together in evening prayers..
  • Theology on Tap – Join us (in zoom) with your favorite beverage to discuss current concerns and questions from a theological point of view. You will be sent a though provoking article and we will gather to discus the topic in light of our Christian faith. . "In a broken and fearful world
the Spirit gives us courage
to pray without ceasing,
to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior,
to unmask idolatries in Church and culture,
to hear the voices of peoples long silenced,
and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace.
In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit,
we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks

and to live holy and joyful lives"
