What we do,Sashabaw presbyterian church is nestled in the meadow next to the North Sashabaw Elementary School and in front of the Sashabaw Middle School. We are a community of diverse and inclusive people who gather in worship, hospitality, service and spiritual growth in the name of Jesus Christ. Together we seek to recognize and acknowledge the presence of God in our lives and in the world while responding to the love of God by equipping ourselves to share that love with others. We seek to do this through a rhythm of worship, hospitality, service and spiritual growth.

WorshipWorship is the heart of Sashabaw Presbyterian Church—the wellspring from which all our ministries are nourished. In worship, we encounter God through Scripture, music, prayer, thanksgiving, and the rhythms of everyday life.
Here, we pause to breathe—exhaling the busyness that distracts us—so we may see afresh the grace, mercy, and beauty God has given us. Through this holy gift, we are refreshed and renewed for the week ahead. Our worship blends the comfort of tradition with the creativity of new expressions, weaving together both formal and informal liturgy. This balance creates a space that is both rooted and alive, where all can meet the living God. Come as you are, and join us in worship—where God’s Spirit meets us with renewal, hope, and joy. |
HospitialityHygge (hoo gah) is the Danish word which most simply is translated as well being. As we seek to be a community bringing the hope and healing of Jesus Christ we practice this art of Hygge Hospitality which is about being comfortable, cozy, sharing and a welcoming way of being together. As you walk through the door we invite you to leave ego and agitation behind and enter a place of peace and curl up into the care of calm and where cups of coffee, cocoa and tea abound.

ServiceWe restore hope when we practice Service by giving of ourselves to help another. Scripture tells us “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others” (I Peter:4:10)From our Chicken Ministry supporting Lighthouse, to summer cereal and backpack drives, to providing space for a Waldorf preschool in our building and a new elementary program in the yurt on our property, service is how we live out our faith. We also support Common Ground, Haven, and other community services. Beyond our walls, we help fill Little Libraries and partner with Presbyterian Disaster Relief, trusting God to multiply every gift. Each act of service, small or large, is a seed of love and renewal planted in Christ’s name.

We grow through study with Bibles open on our laps in a circle, sitting in a living room pondering questions of faith, participating in Sunday study groups, or during times of personal devotional reading. These are habits of the heart that inspire and equip us to live as disciples of Christ, as we grow in faith.

We are a praying community, and value sharing life's sorrows and joys with one another. We gather twice each week for communal prayer and share prayer requests through our Prayer Circle. If you would like prayer for anything email us at [email protected]

Community EffortThe Historic Sashabaw Presbyterian Church has always been more than a building—it has been a gathering place, a youth center, and a symbol of faith and perseverance in Clarkston. Today, preserving this historic landmark is a community-wide effort. Together, we are working to restore its structure, windows, and accessibility so it can once again serve as a hub for concerts, weddings, nonprofit gatherings, and community life. With your help, we can preserve our past while building a future for generations to come.To learn more, see the Historic Church page in the drop-down menu on this website.
